Dr. Sherry Jones Awarded the Delta Alpha Award by the Alliance for AG Higher Education

Dr. Sherry Jones who recently retired (May 2026) from serving as Professor of Education and Coordinator for the Elementary Education Department at Nelson American Indian College, and briefly as Administrative Dean at the AIC campus was awarded the Delta Alpha Award by the Alliance for AG Higher Education at their annual meeting held this year in St. Louis, Missouri.  The Delta Alpha Award is the highest award given by the Assemblies of God to outstanding educators.  Dr. Jones was previously recognized at the Dean’s Medalion Ceremony by Nelson University in May at the Waxahachie, Texas campus.

Dr. Jones, who along with her husband Prof. Bob Jones served at the college since 2016.  She holds a B.S. from Eastern New Mexico University, an M.A. from the University of Arizona, and an Ed.D. from Nova Southeastern University.  In addition to teaching at Nelson AIC, Dr. Jones is a long-time educator with service as a teacher and principal in both public and charter schools.  She and Bob also previously taught as adjunct professors at Ottawa University. 

Dr. Jones has also been active in ministry serving alongside her husband as a ministry spouse while they pastored churches.  She also previously served as the Director of the Dream City Church’s Living Church Youth Outreach program, a residential program serving “at risk” young adults.

Dr. Jones and her husband Pastor Bob Jones are now enjoying their retirement and plan to split their time between Arizona and Texas to be close to family in both locations.
