Institutional grants and scholarships vary in amount and are based on need, academic achievement, and several other factors that determine your eligibility for specific awards. Unless otherwise indicated, a committee appointed by the President will administer these grants and scholarships. AIC reserves the right to adjust any institutional awards whenever the award, combined with other financial aid exceeds the total cost of education or when a recipient no longer qualifies for the award academically, socially, or for other reasons determined by the College. All institutional grant and scholarship recipients must be enrolled full-time (taking at least 12 credit hours) and live in campus housing unless they are married, have dependents, and/or live with their parents.

Students will only be awarded qualifying institutional scholarships after all other financial aid awards have been applied, excluding student loans. If the student still has an outstanding balance after Pell Grant, FSEOG, Tribal Scholarships, other miscellaneous scholarships, the student must make timely payments and/or participate in work study on campus. At the end of each semester, once the student has met all other requirements, and made effort to pay remaining balance through payments or work study, the student may be awarded additional need-based aid to the remaining balance owed.

Need-based Grant

The amount of this grant varies depending on numerous considerations as determined by the AIC Financial Aid Committee, including student deportment, academic progress, and special circumstances that impact a student’s need. Funds for this grant have been provided through the generosity of private donors in honor of such individuals as Rev. Rodger A. Cree (Mohawk Nation), long time nationally recognized Native Christian leader who served with distinction as a pastor, Bible college president, and presbyter for many years. Rev. Cree also served for a time as the campus pastor for the College and the student union was named in his honor. Need-based grants also honor individuals such as long-time missionary, registrar, and instructor at American Indian College, Rev. Betty Hanna, as well as some others. Funds are limited based on the amount available for Student Assistance purposes at any given time but in a typical year all students with demonstrated need receive some need-based funds.
