Dr. Debi Tom

Dr. Debi Tom (Navajo), an AIC graduate and one of AIC’s Board of Regents members was recently selected to be the Supervisor of Elementary Services for the Central Consolidated School District 22 in Shiprock, New Mexico, encompassing much of the northeast portion of the Navajo reservation. Dr. Tom says of her new position: “I will provide support to principals in each of the ten elementary schools within the Central Schools area. Some of my responsibilities will include updates of school improvement plans from the state department, assist with instructional audits, review of all pre-referral procedures of special education evaluations, and data collection for district reports.”

Although excited at this new position, Dr. Tom is quick to remind people “I still feel I’m a teacher at heart; however, in reflecting on my years of experience and continued education I trust that this is God’s handy work in my life and I embrace His plan for me.” Debi is a 1995 graduate of AIC and also holds two masters degrees, as well as a doctorate in Education from Arizona State University. She and her husband Stanley are active in local church ministry and are the parents of one son. Congratulations Dr. Tom!
