Non-Discriminatory Policy

SAGU AIC admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the College. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, handicap, or national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarships and loan programs, and other school-administered programs. However, prospective students should recognize that the philosophy of the College is oriented to Native Americans.

Student Privacy Rights

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) affords students certain rights with respect to their education records. They are:

  • The right to inspect and review the student’s education records
  • The right to request the amendment of the student’s education records to ensure that they are not inaccurate, misleading, or otherwise in violation of the student’s privacy or other rights
  • The right to consent to disclosures of personally identifiable information contained in the student’s education records, except to the extent that FERPA authorizes disclosure without consent
  • The right to file with the U.S. Department of Education a complaint concerning alleged failures by American Indian College to comply with the requirements of FERPA
  • The right to obtain a copy of the SAGU AIC’s student records policy. Students may obtain a copy of the policy from the Office of the Director of Institutional and Student Services.
