For the first time ever the SAGU American Indian College men’s basketball program attended the NCCAA National Tournament in Winona Lake, IN. After posting a 7-2 record in conference play and receiving the NCCAA West Region at large bid, the Warriors were one of only 8 teams to qualify for NCCAA post-season play. Entering as an 8th seed the Warriors took on the number 1 seed Grace College on March 17th, 5th seed Lancaster Bible on March 18th, and 7th seed Southwestern Christian on March 19th. The Warriors represented well and now know they can compete with the NCCAA’s best. After the tournament was completed Coach Robb Floco spoke about “the pride he had in the team” and felt with almost all the Warriors players returning next year SAGU American Indian College will be back to post-season play.
This tournament appearance had an extra special meaning to SAGU American Indian College as our President of many years Dr. David Moore will be retiring at years end. We want to thank Dr. Moore and his wife Cheri for their unwavering support and love they show for the college and to all the athletic programs. We know they will be regular attendees of Warrior athletic events in the future and wish them all of God’s blessing going forward.
